We arrived early the morning of January 30th to see Pitcairn's Island out in the distance, in the rainy mist. It may have been the way Fletcher Christian saw it with his mutineers on the Bounty. There are about 45 people living there now. All are related to one of the mutineers in some way, even tho 2 other people were shippwrecked there in the 1800's to help the gene pool. Most of the population came aboard our ship, we were unable to land, and brought their crafts with them. They would stamp your passport for $5 US. What a deal!
We had a question and answer hour with the Mayor and another citizen. It was very interesting. They have internet, so you can order crafts from them. They mostly go off-island for advanced schooling and spouses. They have flush toilets, but they have no septic systems, so the waste goes into the sea.
We acted as a supply ship for them. You should have seen the amount of beer, wine and pop they loaded. They also got a lot of potatoes and eggs, etc, but much more beer.
Now on the Tahiti on Feb 1
We are still having a great time. I can't believe how tired we get doing, what seems, like nothing. We take dance lessons, spanish lessons, go to lectures, dance, sing karaoke, play maj jong and slots, etc. And that is on sea days. You can imagine what we add to that when we have sea days. Oh, yeah, and we eat. We have been excercising, but not every day. If you walk around the ship 13 times it is one nautical mile, which is 1.15 land miles (and no I do not know why)
Take care, will update after Tahiti. Love to all
