We arrived at Rarotonga on February 3rd.  The island is a vast contrast to Tahiti.  It is smaller, has only 10,000 people versus 200,000.  It very low key and friendly.  I could see returning here.
The pictures show the island, and a marooned ship, from a hurricane 3 weeks ago.  You can also see one of the best parts of the trip that day.  We found a banana patch, we on the taxi trip, and we stopped and "rescued" some bananas.  They would have been eaten by birds if we hadn't gotten them (they were so ripe)
People bury their family members on their property near their homes.  That is what that picture is about.  They have pretty elaborate tombs.
We went wading in the very clear water in the lagoon and saw fish of all colors, sea cucumbers by the hundreds and lot of coral.  We could walk to the island, and did.
Still having lots of fun, both on shore and on the ship.  We have 4 sea days ahead, but we lose a calendar day.  We have no Feb 6th.  We have been gaining one hours sleep for many nites now.   It is very confusing to our bodies.
Wishing you all well.  Arleen and Duane

Pic #1 is Arleen looking for a place to pee...nice...
The last picture is of Arleen stealing bananas from one of the locals...They don't grow bananas in Rarotonga, those were imported at great expense and placed in a tree so the rabbits wouldn't get them...also nice...
