Guam was occupied by the Japanese during the war. It was liberated by the Americans and is now reoccupied by Japanese tourists. We arrived here 2 days after a stealth bomber crashed at Andersen Airforce base here. It crashed during takeoff. All crew ejected and are healing. I asked if you can see a Stealth bomber after it crashed (since it is invisible, right:)
Views from the Harbor
A Japanese couple having their wedding pictures taken on the beach of a hotel, where we are using the internet
Another view from the hotel toward "two lovers leap" Look at all the people!
Two lovers' leap...We don't know the story behind that name
Guam is a very modern island with lots of large hotels in the city Tumon. All the stores are very high end... Gucci, Rolex, Louis Vuitton, etc. We are just going to buy some diet coke.
There are war reminders here, but no good way to see them and after many tropical islands, this one is just too commercial. So back to the ship.
We leave tonight to sail past Iwo Jima. We will have a ceremony on board. More later.
